Home grown winner for the 26th Rose Bowl

Home grown winner for the 26th Rose Bowl
Description
RYAN Corbett became one of the youngest winners of a Mitsushiba Northern Order of Merit event when he upstaged a quality field to claim the Grange Park Rose Bowl over his home course.
The 16-year-old junior was the most consistent player on a testing day as he produced a pair of 71s for a two-under-par total to prevail by three strokes from 2000 merit winner Garry Lacy, from Ashton-in-Makerfield.
Corbett, of four, racked up nine birdies all told as Mark Young, who figured in Lancashire’s crushing defeat of Durham the previous day in the Northern Counties League, stepped up his bid to retain his merit title as he moved to within 10 points of Sam Stuart, from St Annes Old Links.
The Longridge player opened up with a 69 to share the first round lead with his county team-mate and close merit rival John Carroll, from Huyton and Prescot, but both slipped to third and fifth respectively with 76 and 77 as conditions deteriorated.
